What's In My Fridge (& How I Organize It!)

Good morning everyone!! I asked the other day if you guys wanted to read more health/fitness type of blog posts, and the answer was a resounding yes. If you're like me, the start of the New Year is always a great motivator to set goals and stick to them - especially goals to eat clean and get into better shape. With my wedding coming up in June, I feel even more motivated to kick things into high gear! Today I thought it would be fun to share a "What's in My Fridge" post - a lot of these items I keep stocked regularly, however it will vary slightly depending on the "menu" for the week. I try to plan out all the dinners and go grocery shopping every Sunday so that I don't have to make any mid-week grocery runs. I also pay attention to ingredients, so if I'm making turkey chili that calls for half an onion, I'll incorporate another recipe that uses onion so that I don't waste ingredients.

Anyway, let's get on to the good stuff! :)

*Side note: I forgot to hit publish on this post yesterday, MY APOLOGIES that it's going up so late!*

The above picture is a view of my fridge right when you open the door!

The top shelf is reserved for drinks - I always keep a few bottles of wine, La Croix (I'm really into the "berry" flavor right now!!) coconut water, and milk. Right now I'm trying to lessen my dairy intake so I've been making my morning latte with almond milk - I get the Blue Diamond unsweetened "vanilla" flavor.

These wine holders are really helpful for stacking wine bottles and helping to create more space in your fridge, as well as this soda can organizer. I also like the soda can organizer because it's clear, and you can tell exactly how many cans you have left!

The second and third shelves I like to keep stocked with TONS of pre-cut and pre-washed fruit and veggies, so whenever I get hungry for a snack I really have no excuse but to eat them (rather than reach for junk food!). Some of these are for snacking, while others are needed for dinner recipes for the week. If I'm feeling motivated after grocery shopping, it really helps to go ahead and wash and cut up your vegetables and put them in tupperware. It makes dinner-prep SO much faster and easier. Lowe's Foods is a local grocery store that offers a lot of veggies already chopped and ready to go, so I pick up those when I can!

I keep eggs stocked in this clear egg holder at all times - I LOVE hard-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, omelets and I also use them to make my 3-ingredient pancakes :) I try to buy organic, free-range eggs whenever possible.

I keep this fridge bin in the fridge specifically for meat - it makes it really easy to see what I already have or need to buy. I eat a lot of chicken so I'm always buying organic, air-chilled chicken breasts. I also love these Al Fresco chicken meatballs (I eat them with zucchini noodles and pasta sauce!). They are also boy-approved because Chris ate them and loved them too!

Also on the same shelf - Oikos Greek yogurt! Chris told me that this Greek yogurt has the most protein and is the best for you, so I started buying it - they do have a TON of protein! I've been eating them as a post-workout snack.

The three bottom drawers are pretty boring - the top one I use for cheese and the bottom two are for whole fruits and vegetables. I love having lemons on hand to make hot lemon water as a detox!

I feel like everyone's side door on their refrigerator gets a little chaotic, but I do my best to keep it at least a little organized. We have a neat drink rack in the fridge so I like to keep Pellegrino's there - they are a great alternative to soda, although I usually reach for a La Croix if I want something carbonated but healthy!

You'll also notice that I keep a huge container of Chobani plain Greek yogurt in the fridge. I make a lot of soups, chilis and Mexican meals and I ALWAYS add plain Greek yogurt on top instead of sour cream! It's much healthier and it tastes identical to me :) Plain Greek yogurt is also great to have in the fridge because you can easily pair it with fresh berries and some granola for breakfast.

And finally - more Oikos Greek yogurt and Fiji waters! This might sound weird but I swear that Fiji water is the best tasting bottled water out there. I live for it! I will not buy any other brand from the grocery store hahah! I try to drink filtered water from our refrigerator when I'm at home, but bottled water is great to have on hand when you're running out the door (especially when I'm headed to a workout class!).

I'm linking up some of my fridge organizers in the widget below. Let me know if you have any questions! I'm planning to do a "What I Eat in a Day" post soon so let me know in the comments if I should! :)

xoxo
