Even though this has been a crazy/hectic week for me... I knew I had to find time yesterday to run by Nordstrom to take a peek at their Anniversary Sale items (see yesterday's post for more info on the sale!). Y'ALL. Usually I am not incredibly impressed with the Anniversary Sale, but there are some super cute fall essentials that I couldn't resist. So instead of just showing you what my favorites are, I thought I'd show you what I actually bought and am keeping for the fall. Sorry in advance for all the mirror pics!
First up, I want to talk about jeans. I came into Nordstrom yesterday looking for a new pair of dark wash denim for fall - I wanted a skinny jean that was really comfortable and that I could also pair with both short booties and riding boots. The answer? Joe's Jeans "flawless" skinny jeans. The wash is very flattering and slimming, and they are SO COMFORTABLE they almost feel like I'm wearing pajama pants (I hate when jeans are stiff or scratchy).
Sizing: Size up! I went up one size in these jeans for the best fit.

Let's talk about this plaid shirt. It's B.P. brand, super comfortable and only $24.90. You can wear it now with white shorts or white skinny jeans, or save it for the fall and pair it with a comfy cardigan (seen below).

Sizing: I usually wear an XS in shirts, but I went with a medium for this one. I wanted it to fit loose and come down long enough for leggings.

Next up... one of my favorite "essentials" for fall, a striped dress! A comfy striped dress is a must-have to pair with booties and riding boots in the fall. When temperatures drop, pair it with a military-style jacket or a jean jacket. This dress is also light enough to wear with sandals on a summer evening.
Sizing: True to size. I am wearing the U.S. 2 (I usually find that Topshop runs small, however not in this dress - I would stick with your normal size. If you are petite, keep in mind that it hits right above the knee so you may want to have it hemmed if you like shorter dresses).

A striped sweater is another fall essential that can be styled a number of ways. For now, wear it with jean shorts. In the fall, wear it with jeans, black pants and riding boots, or a colorful skirt for the office.

This next shirt is really neat - it gives the illusion of layering without all the bulk of actually layering. The sweater material is also really cozy and soft. I would definitely wear this on a day that I don't want to put much effort into dressing - it's so easy to throw on with jeans and you're out the door.

Next is the perfect white shirt for all your fall outfits - this one by Lush. The V-neck makes it ideal for wearing necklaces, especially a monogram. It is really long, like REALLY long, so you could definitely pair it with leggings and not worry about your booty showing. It also comes in five different colors - I am crushing on the army green one, as well.

Although it may be a really cliche or "basic" outfit, I will forever love the white shirt/faux fur vest combination. This vest from Topshop was by far my favorite item from the whole sale. It is REALLY nice quality (I have a lot of faux fur vests and this one takes the cake for quality), and it's also very soft and warm (I was sweating just trying it on in my air conditioned apartment!). I think if you buy one thing from this sale, the vest should be it.

One more note about the shoes I'm wearing in this post: the Vince Camuto booties. When I tried them on the store yesterday I realized they run a little small - I sized up a half a size for a perfect fit.

So there you have it! These are all the items that I loved from the sale and bought to keep.
