Happy Thursday, y'all! This isn't really an "apartment tour," but it's been too rainy to do outfit photos so I figured I would share some home decor with you today. When I moved into my new place, I started from scratch furniture-wise. The only piece of furniture I really owned was my childhood bed... when I moved into my last apartment, my roommate had been living there for a few years so she already had her furniture throughout the house. Thus, I never accumulated any furniture and found myself furniture-less when I moved into this new place. Decorating has been an adventure, to say the least! It is difficult to see a bunch of different images online and try to imagine how they will all look together in the same room. I've been trying to order a few big pieces at a time, so that I can see them in person before I buy smaller items and accent pieces. It's working, but it's a really slow process!
Let's start with the living room. Here's a "before" photo of the empty space… (it's a corner unit so there are windows on both walls, one of the reasons I fell in in love with the place!)
Such a big space was pretty intimidating to work with, especially since this was my first time really outfitting an apartment. I started by ordering the rug first, that way I could build the color scheme around the rug. I fell in love with this one from One King's Lane... which determined that white, blue, and gold would be the "theme" of the living room. Next I ordered this marble coffee table and gold floor mirror. The media stand was a no-brainer because it provides SO MUCH storage and it matches the pattern of the rug! I also placed an order for a sectional sofa from Pottery Barn, but it won't be in for a few more weeks. So I've been sitting on the floor at the coffee table to eat all my meals :)
On the other side of the living room, I'm going to replace the small gold table with some bookshelves (along the left wall). And now... let's talk about the office!

Before photo of the office:
For the office, I knew I wanted a gold and white theme, but I had a tough time picking out the desk, since it would be the anchor of the room. I really like campaign furniture and fell in love with this campaign desk... but in the end I decided it was too small for the room. I went with this A-frame desk from PB Teen because the desk space was a lot bigger. Although you can get the desk with built-in drawers, I really liked the clean look of this one. This room has a long way to go - I want to add bookshelves and storage on the right side of the room, and maybe even a comfortable chair in the corner. Oh and I definitely need to hang some things on the wall!
Now for the bedroom... which is in need of the most work!
For the past couple of weeks, I've been sleeping on an air mattress while I made a decision about the bed and then waited for it to be delivered. I decided to go with this bed because I loved the crisp white color and the tufted headboard which I thought would be really comfortable. It's also a really great price... most of the headboards I looked at were equal to the price of this entire bed. The bed came in a few days ago and I LOVE it - my next step is ordering nightstands! I created these vision boards for the nightstands and lamps... which one is your favorite?
I'm leaning toward a mirrored nightstand to keep the room more neutral, that way I can switch out the pillows if I get tired of the color scheme. Here's another shot of the opposite wall of my bedroom... I love this linen form from PB Teen, as well as the gold makeup organizer. They're such girly accents!
That's about it for my apartment updates. I'll continue to share my progress as things come in! Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions!
